Dubai Announces Construction of New $35 Billion Airport Terminal, Set to be the World’s Largest

Dubai - In a bold move reaffirming Dubai's status as one of the world's leading cities in aviation, the Dubai government has announced the commencement of work on a new airport terminal project costing $35 billion, set to become the largest airport in the world upon completion.

This announcement comes from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates, who stated that the new terminal would be five times the size of the current Dubai International Airport and would accommodate up to 260 million passengers annually.

It was also announced that all operations at the current Dubai International Airport would gradually be transferred to the new airport in the coming years, reflecting Dubai's commitment to developing its aviation infrastructure to remain a global aviation hub.

Sheikh Mohammed stated: "In line with our vision to develop Dubai's future, we are working on creating a new project that serves future generations, ensuring continuous development and stability for our children and their descendants."

The Al Maktoum International Airport, which opened in 2010, is expected to become the new home for the national carrier Emirates, featuring five parallel runways and 400 aircraft gates, thereby enhancing its operational capacity and meeting the increasing demand for air travel.

Commenting on the new initiative, Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, said: "This project represents a bold step towards enhancing Dubai's position as a key aviation destination, reaffirming its commitment to keeping pace with global aviation developments."

With the completion of the new airport project, Dubai will witness further growth and development, remaining a preferred destination for travelers from around the world.

It is worth noting that Dubai International Airport has been the busiest airport in the world for international travel for 10 consecutive years, underscoring the urgent need to expand infrastructure to meet the growing demand for air travel.

Undoubtedly, this new project marks a significant step towards enhancing Dubai's status as one of the world's foremost cities in aviation, presenting an opportunity to boost trade, tourism, and strengthen international relations.
